- Omigod, will that ceiling stop fucking leaking! With the summer showers comes the piss-colored water dripping in my kitchen, which is inevitably followed by contractors who are scared of my dog and painters who do a shitty job of covering up the water stains.
This was followed by threats of getting a lawyer and suing my apartment complex for breach of contract (I had been faithfully paying my lease and they continually fail to provide me an apartment of "habitable" condition.) Oh, and I called the Atlanta Housing Authority. The result is they are giving me a new apartment, and because there are no openings for my size apartment, they are forced to give me one that's 179 square feet bigger at my same rate. Then I argued that it's not my fault I'm moving, so they are paying for movers to haul my stuff up one floor. That would be JAMIE=2 THE MAN=0 for anyone keeping score.
- Death: the last taboo. As of last Tuesday, I had three grandparents. As of last Thursday, I had one. My step-father's mother passed on and the next day, my mother's father unexpectedly passed. My mother and step-father couldn't even attend each other's funerals and I was forced to choose which one to attend. To say it's been a rough week is an understatement.
- "Save a boyfriend for a rainy day—and another, in case it doesn't rain." Yesterday I got stopped in traffic while driving home. By chance I was on the same road where Boyfriend works. I saw him pull out of his parking lot on his scooter and I rolled my window down to wave. He tooted his horn and winked at me as he passed me, and I fell a little more in love with him.
- Cubicle Neighbor quit. I am devastated.
So that was my summer. How was yours?

THAT is a very stressful and emotional recap.
Big hugs and love to you and your grandparents. I'm so sorry.
You needed that scooter toot, I'm glad he saw you. :)
Finally, kick ass on your apartment news and movers, GO JAMIE!
ahhh, yes. While I yearn to be a slumlord some day, I do love hearing about one of 'em getting their cumupance. Well done!
Sorry to read about your grandparents and the decision you had to make. I'm sure all involved understood whatever you decided.
Also sorry to read about cubicle neighbor. Hope I don't go to NJ anytime soon.
RHS: I quit, I ain't dead... not so you'd know by my prolonged absence.
On the plus side, you missed August and most of September, so catch-up was easier.
